Recommended as the next 'Harry Potter' in a number of articles on the Net
I can't quite remember how I found out about about them. I was on the Net searching for something new to read in the post Harry Potter gloom and came upon the Stonewylde books by accident it would seem, or maybe they found me, I don't know! But after reading the info and background to the books and their author - who hails from Dorset, my home county - and reading the rave reviews on Amazon , I ordered the first two without hesitation.

Now this can be no more than a teaser review as I'm only a third of the way into the first book, Magus of Stonewylde, but already I'm being drawn into Kit Berry's world.

The main characters, other than the Magus from the title of the first novel, are two teenagers who at the start of the book are living in two different worlds - one, Sylvie, in grimy inner city London and Yul in the seeming idyll of Stonewylde - but very quickly, the author deftly brings them together having set the scene for the intrigues and twists that I know will come, based on what I've read so far and from other peoples' reviews. Please don't be put off by the fact that the main characters are teenagers: J.K. Rowling writes for adults as much as children as does Philip Pullman. And what is also fascinating about these books is that Kit Berry has seemingly found a new literary genre; Pagan fiction. The books are written around real and genuine Pagan/Wicca practices. - Myrddin , posted 08/18/07
