I was actually converted with the double LP "U" and only later managed to acquire the hangman's and other masterpieces. "Liquid Acrobats as regards to Air" is also one of my favorites. Together with The Pogues they were my musical fetish for probably a decade. Recent solo works by Williamson as a storyteller are awesome. Probably the best folk-world band ever, with eccentric vocals, poetic lyrics, dozens of unusual instruments and a thoroughly sixties point of view. "Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" is the best of the albums, with "Big Huge" and "Wee Tam" close. - PapaRed , posted 03/01/06 |
