Friendly Local Pub (E2)
This is a friendly local pub just on the outskirts of Shoreditch. True to its cockney roots, it remains an authentic East End boozer - with a heart and with an underground creative flair on certain evenings. Stay in the know through its web site (www.myspace.com/themarksmanpub). Do not expect posers of any sort. This pub is down-to-earth. If you get to know the landlady and if she takes a shine to you, she may just put out a small buffet of bar food for you and your mates on your birthday.
Highlights: real ales, great prices, great down-to-earth atmosphere, *free* tunes on juke box (great mix here), pool table, free seafood on the bar Sundays, Sky Sports (football, rugby, races, etc), piano night (where local musicians and actors come to play on the 100 year old piano), real cockney locals, spiral staircase, and friendly proprieters/nice staff/nice locals.
Price ranges:
Typical house lagers = £2.35
Guinness = £2.40
Real ales = £1.80
Most spirits = £1.40 a shot
